Eva Maagerø, Ruth Mulvad and Elise Seip Tønnesen have published a very interesting and engaging book based on interviews with nine internationally leading women in social semiotics and systemic functional linguistics (SFL). Throug the interviews of these pioneers in the field, the reader gets both deep and broad insight in nine impressive academic lives. From personal stories of the oftentimes coincidental road into academia, to theoretical discussions and reflections over what future challanges and possibilities each of the interviewees see as most important in their field. The book opens with a short presentation of the theoretical backdrop and three pivotal terms. It ends with a discussion chapter where the nine interviews/chapters are bound together.
